1.What Are Ordinal Numbers?

Ordinal numbers indicate position or order in a sequence.They are different from cardinal numbers, which show quantity.

Ordinal numbers answer the question “Which one?”
For example: 1st (first), 2nd (second), 3rd (third), etc.
Ordinal numbers, bir sıralamada yer veya sıra bildirir.Kaç tane olduğunu değil, kaçıncı olduğunu gösterir.

Ordinal numbers after 20 are created by combining a cardinal number with the last part of the corresponding ordinal:

• 21 → Twenty-first (Yirmi birinci)

• 32 → Thirty-second (Otuz ikinci)

• 45 → Forty-fifth (Kırk beşinci)

• 100 → One hundredth (Yüzüncü)

Not: Sıra sayılarında sadece son rakama göre “-st, -nd, -rd, -th” eki eklenir.Örneğin:

• 1st (st)

• 2nd (nd)

• 3rd (rd)

• 4th and onwards (th)

• I finished the race in third place.

  (Bu, Londra’daki ilk seferim.)

• She lives on the seventh floor.
  (Yedinci katta oturuyor.)

• He came in twenty-second.
  (Yirmi ikinci geldi.)

5.Ordinal Numbers in Dates

In English, ordinal numbers are also used to say dates:

• July 4th → The Fourth of July (4 Temmuz)

• December 25th → The Twenty-fifth of December (25 Aralık)
